About Us . . .
CUBS is a grass root organization formed in 2002 by Woodbridge community
members. Frustrated by the township’s inability to consistently obtain voter
approval for the school budgets – a pattern in Woodbridge for 32 of 33 years, and
convinced that low voter turnout was directly related to a lack of information CUBS
organized to assist in educating Woodbridge voters on the school budget process,
issues and legislation that might affect our children’s education and legislators who
will protect our children’s public school interests. CUBS is an independent
organization with no political affiliation although many of our members are active
throughout other organizations. The group is funded solely through donations.
CUBS is incorporated in New Jersey as a non-profit organization and its activities are
governed by the rules contained in Robert’s Rules of Order Revised and the
organizations by-laws. The CUBS Leadership, which is comprised of its original
founding members, is a diverse group active in the Community and dedicated to
ensuring the success of Woodbridge Township’s children. Since its inception, CUBS
has grown from its original seven founders to more than 400 members. This is
important because Woodbridge, with a diverse population of 97,000, is New Jersey's
sixth largest municipality. CUBS believes the road to success in our schools must
involve the community as a whole.
We believe that parents who understand the budget process; who are informed
about legislative and community initiatives that affect our schools; and how each of
these impact their children(s) education will come out to vote and ensure a quality
education for their children.
